Adult Webmastering 101: Finding Micro Niche Possibilities In Even The Most Saturated
This is the latest of the tutorial series that I have been running with
newbies in mind. As with always, I am sure that most of the seasoned
professionals will be familiar with everything I am talking about but there
are still a lot of new webmasters around and I hope it helps them a bit.
—
I have been saying it for years - micro niche means money. What do I mean
about micro niches? At its most basic a micro niche is when you take a
larger niche and break it down into smaller (micro) chunks. The advantages
of working with micro niches are many but they boil down to being able to
better filter and target your traffic and to have less competition.
Many people over the years have come to think of micro niches are mainly
associated with fetishes but that isn’t true because any niche can be broken
down into smaller chunks. Even the most saturated niches, such as teens,
lesbians and Asians, can be broken down into micro niches. In fact, I often
find that finding micro niches within the popular larger macro niches is the
best way to carve your own path and get sales easier.
Another advantage of finding micro niches within the macro niches is that
you don’t always have to go find a micro niche specific site in order to
cash in on the micro niche. Instead, you can sort of ‘reverse engineer’ your
micro niche campaigns to make the most of the the tours your sponsors are
already offering you.
So, for example, lets say my sponsor had a nice Asian site that I wanted to
promote but I didn’t want to be fighting with everybody else over the less
specific Asian terms.
The first thing I will do - and something far too many people never do - is
load up the site’s tour in my browser. For the purposes of this example, I
am going to be promoting All Asian Girls from the
Max Cash stable. So, I load up the
All Asian Girls Tour.
Once I have the tour up in my browser I put my ‘micro niche’ glasses on and
look for anything on the tour that could be a micro niche. From looking at
this specific tour I pick up on few possible micro niches.
Asian panties, Asian pussy licking/oral sex, long hair Asians, Asian
blowjobs, and Asian boot fetish are all possible micro niches that I picked
up on but since is so heavily featured on the tour I decide that I am going
to consider ‘Asian Lesbians’ my micro niche to target.
As you can see if you visit the tour page, Asian Lesbians feature heavily on
a portion of the tour. So, if I am sending surfers looking for ‘Asian
Lesbians’ to the tour they are going to see what they want on the tour.
Matching your chosen micro niches to the tour is important because if you
were targeting a micro niche that wasn’t represented at all on the tour then
you are making it much more difficult to keep the interest of that surfer
and get them to sign up.
There are many ways to turn micro niches into money and personally I find it
fun to see just how far I can break things down and still find surfers.
Using this reverse engineering technique allows you to make the most out of
the sites a sponsor may have and to creatively filter your traffic down and
get those surfers to sign up and make you money.

Webmastering 101: Using thumbed table ads to filter traffic and make money - Article by Sarah
Just like last week when I spoke about making money with SEO pages aka One Page Wonders, a lot of this will be far from new for people that have been around for a while. However, it is easy to forget that there are a lot of people that are still pretty new and may have skipped over some of the older techniques.
Just because a technique used by adult webmasters has been around for a long time doesn’t mean it doesn’t still work and sometimes you can give them a bit of a more modern twist.
So, this time I am talking about how to use table ads on your pages to filter traffic and make some money.
To takes things from a very basic level, table ads are more or less exactly as they sound. They are small tables that are used to make adverts for sites. Traditionally, they were made up of a series of text links in the table and placed at the bottom of a page.
For the version of table ads that I am talking about I will be switching from using text links to making use of hosted thumbs to make my table ads a bit more visually appealing. Max Cash has 88×88 hosted thumbs to match each of our hosted movie galleries and we allow those hosted thumbs to be used independently from the galleries. So, they are going to be perfect for making my thumbed table ads.
You can see examples of the sort of table ads I am making with the hosted thumbs at http://www.emailerotica.com/images/…/table_ads.html . As with always, you can no doubt make things look better and use better colours, etc. They are just up there to give an idea.
Anyway, this is a quick guide to the process I go through when putting together a thumbed table ad.
#1 The first thing I need to decide is what sort of theme I am going to have for my table ad. I generally deal with two different kinds of table ads.
The first is a table ad where all the sites I am going to push in the table ad are in this same niche. These are the type of table ad I use on sites that are strongly aimed towards one theme. So, if I am going to but a thumbed table ad on a lesbian site then I am going to just promote lesbian sites in my table ad.
The second type of table ad is one where the sites I am going to push in the table are from a mixture of niches. Generally, I use these types of thumbed table ads on sites that are more general such as perhaps just hardcore sites or one that covers a bunch of niches such as a hub site or something.
For the purposes of this example I am deciding to do a niche specific table ad.
#2 Once I have decided on doing a niche specific table ad I log into my sponsor - in this case Max Cash - and see what sites they have in the niche I want to build the table to promote. I am going to use my niche thumbed table ad on a teen themed site. I look around and see that Max Cash has three different teen sites.
#3 Now that I know what niche I am going to promote and which sites, I then go into the hosted gallery section of the Max Cash affiliate area and pick out one hosted gallery for each teen site I am going to promote. Then I find the 88×88 hosted thumb that matches those galleries.
#4 Then I simply plug the thumbs into the table, link each one directly to the site they promote and them put a small - two or three word - text link under the thumb also linked to the site.
These thumbed table ads can be used pretty much anywhere that you have room just to filter your traffic that bit more. This is especially true with the multi-niche table ads. You could easily build ones with your own content to move traffic around from your more general hardcore sites to more specific niche sites you run. I do that but I also like to throw up sponsor ones like these to get some more direct money out of the table ads.
Another way that I have been using these thumbed table ads as of late, are on my blogs. I just stick one in the footer area of my blog and give those blog surfers something to click on and join.
I also have been known to put a few up on the “one page wonder” SEO pages I talked about last week. Really the key is, wherever you can - do.
So, I hope this proves helpful to some folks and if you are going to give it a try I would love you to try it with the Max Cash hosted thumbs. I would be more than happy to assist in any way that I can.
Networking is a vital part of this industry. Sure it’s possible to be an island and just never chat with anyone, but in reality, the best possible way to get ahead in any business, whether its brick and mortar or whether it’s internet based, it’s through networking…. making business contacts.
Of course, I think one of the best ways to network is via a message board or forum like the ‘Pond. One *could* just sign up as a member on a forum and just start posting away but chances are that person would be picked out as a “newbie” or “spammer” and endure the wrath of the board. There is a fine art to participating on a board.
1. Board etiquette. It would be considered in bad taste to just jump in and post. While there’s nothing to stop a person from doing that, it’s more wise to lurk for a bit. Read some threads and get a feel for the board. What makes the board a community? What’s acceptable and ! what’s not? On Netpond, posting/resurrecting old threads is not cool. We’d rather that you start a new thread, get fresh opinions, and add new information. Old threads generally have dated information.
2. Once you do finally post a thread, help it along. Don’t make a post and then abandon the thread. If you don’t monitor and respond to your own thread why would anyone else want to do that? Lots of “cut and paste spammers” are quickly branded as such by making the same single post on several boards. Be careful of what you post and how you post it. Be creative and don’t post the same thing over several boards.
3. Quality vs Quantity. What is laughable is how much importance some people put on post count. Post count has nothing to do with anything. A “board whore” could run up a post count in no time and most likely have not contributed anything valuable to the board. Always, remember that with each post you are engineering your future in the adult biz. What you ! say, how you say it, and how you react to other posts shapes your online personna. In many cases, this is the only way other people will ever know you. While you do business with each other, you may never meet face to face, so this reputation you build is very important. Not your post count. Size doesn’t matter!! LOL
4. Use board features. Many message boards are operated by a sophisticated script. These scripts allow the board to have many useful features. Depending on the site administrators, some forums have more features than others. Netpond is fully functional allowing webmasters to use it as powerful tool. Members have the ability to communicate with thousands of other webmasters, not only through the forums, but through Personal Messages or PMs, user profiles, avatars, and signature.
As a member, I encourage you to put all of these features to work for you! Traditional advertising on any forum can be ver! y costly, but as a member you can use your signature, titles, PMs, and avatars to work for your business. There is no cost and if you post wisely, your avatar, title, and signature can get thousands of views by other visiting webmasters and members.
5. Make the most of your time on a board. Some people feel that “hanging out” on a board is a waste of time. Its important to manage your board time. If you don’t care to read every thread, use the “View new posts since last visit” feature. That way you only see new threads/posts. Alternatively, one could subscribe to specific threads and receive notices only about that thread. Some members use RSS feeds which sends them the newest posts to their feed reader. The goal is to network and do biz.
6. Netpond offers even more! Check out Netpondresources.com. These resources are easily navigated by browsing or with a simple search, members can find the resources they need when they need it. Whether its a tutorial, a sponsor for a new niche, an SEO tool or some cool scripts, members can find what they need all here in one place.
Making money with ‘one page wonders’ - article by Sarah
As you may know, Max Cash has recently launched a ton of new hosted galleries and each of those galleries comes with two hosted thumbnails. One of those is a 88×88 and is a great size for those running tgps and the other is a bigger 320×240 size. I have had a good number of people contact me and ask me for ideas of how to use those thumbs to get signups in ways other than just pushing galleries.
At Max Cash we don’t mind if you use the hosted thumbs on their own without linking to the galleries as long as you are using them to promote our sites. So, I thought I would take some time and put together some ideas to help show people some ways they may not have considered to use the hosted thumbs to get traffic and signups.
The first one is one that I am sure many of you have heard of but there may also be some folks that haven’t. I call them one page wonders - I think I got that name ages ago from another board.
Anyway, the idea is that you create a single page, pretty basic, that is designed to get traffic on a specific search term. This isn’t fast traffic but as time goes on it is very good search engine traffic.
I will start off by showing an example. This is just a very basic page I put up. So, you will no doubt be able to make it look a lot prettier and to make the word density a ton better, etc. It is just up as an example.
#1 Find a site you want to promote (obviously I would love it to be a Max Cash site)
#2 Look through the hosted thumbs available for that site and think of the broad keywords that could go with them. So, for my example, I decided to go with Willing Wives, which is an MILF site, and I saw this big hosted thumb featuring lesbian sex and decided that my broad search term would be ‘milf lesbian’.
#3 Go to your favorite keyword suggestion tool and put in your broad term. So, I put in ‘milf lesbian’ (without the quotes). Then look at the terms it comes back with. When I did this the term MILF Lesbian Sex had a good number behind it. When doing this I try to go for the terms that have a good number of people looking for them, are fairly specific but aren’t overly high on the list. I want a term people are looking for but that not that many webmasters are going after.
#4 Put together a simple page that is mostly text based and make that text keyword rich without being too spammy. How you design the page is up to you but I like to put a big picture at the top (here I am using the hosted thumb we offer at Max Cash), link that picture to the site tour, and then write a little story as if I am talking to a surfer. By writing the story it allows my brain to flow more freely with keyword text and to hopefully get the surfer horny and the search engines interested. Then, I top off the page just with a big text link that essentially says ‘click here to join’ but in more creative words. As I said, design the page to look as good as you want but focus on text and the one or two pics and link those pics! This is your page so you don’t have to follow tgp rules or be nice and cuddly to your surfer.
#5 Now, link to that site on your sites in the ways you would usually link a site to get search engine traffic. I like to put a small table at the bottom of my one page wonders that link to some other one page wonders using their search terms as the text link. I just try to make sure that the pages I link to don’t also have links to those exact same pages on them..mix it up. I also like to put links to my one page wonders amongst my sidebar links on my blogs.
#6 Rinse, repeat. As with so many types of sites, the more you have the more chance to have to get hits and therefore signups. Go after a different term each time.
Again, this isn’t super fast traffic. It will take time to build but if you have a bunch of them out there it will eventually build up to a nice flow of search engine traffic. Even better than just being search engine traffic, it will be filtered which is great traffic for any of us to have.
I hope this helps a few folks and hey, if it does why not sign up to Max Cash and grab those hosted thumbs and get building and earning
This has been an insane week for me with hours I really prefer to avoid and not a lot of sleep. However all of you know when you are self employed you work harder and enjoy it more usually.
Anyway, it occured to me that it would be interesting to compare my schedule now to what my schedule was say, when I first entered the adult business.
When I first reentered the business I was armed with a few basics that some newbies might lack. Prior experience with the adult industry.
I can hear a few people say great you had a head start. Yes, in a way I did I understood some basic concepts but let me tell you the web is a whole other place this time around, than it was say 5 years ago and even more so 10 years back. So, though I understood basics like html. What a freesite is, what a tgp is and even what traffic is and a bit about herding it I had so much to relearn and the business had changed to become way more competitive more innovative and much more technically demanding.
So, I did what the typical newbie does (at least my concept of the typical newbie). I lurked and read and researched. I was quiet for at least a month and even then I asked my questions in pm.
When I thought I had even a tiny grasp I then proceeded to make my first site. Well, let’s say I attempted it. I read and then would try and build. I cossetted that site and I petted it. I got a little bit further each day. I would arrive home from work and check my email. I would check my messages. I would read the boards, all of them. I would then research any ideas that came up on those boards. Man, there are so many avenues to research so many approaches that seem sure fire.
I was a mess. I would after a few hours of reading and then running off hither and yon to research that idea but then I would run into another idea.
Google and I became best friends.
What I must emphasize here is I was spending 7 and 8 hours a day “working” on the net but getting nothing done. NOTHING even my first site was in process. I would build a little bit then I would run into something I did not understand or some “improvement” I wanted to make and BAM…off I would go “researching”.
Oh that was bad and worse were the days when I run into something too interesting to resist! Games you just can’t miss! An article or 10 you just must read! God, the net is a strange place just begging to be explored and every time I stopped (every five minutes) I was drug off in another direction.
I had newbie ADD and knew it. I had nothing to show for a long day on the net and no income because nothing I did got finished.
Better yet when I finally finished that first site instead of building the next I was instead checking my stats and still trying to fix that first one and make it “ego” perfect.
Oh yeah did I mention checking stats? Like a blog with few link trades and nothing much yet would be doing anything. As time passed my time became more productive. I had fewer questions and still lots of plans I was still somewhat distractable but managing better. Still I was extremely disorganized and would spend hours doing nothing productive and calling it research. This could not continue.
So I began a regime. Self imposed but necessary too.
Log on after work check email and check icq. Yes those must be done but no boards none no no no…first the project for the day must be done.
Whatever it was it had to be accomplished. Because I worked outside full time then I would set smaller goals like installing and tweaking a wordpress, and updating all existing blogs.
After those goals for the day were accomplished then I would allow myself an hour yes, an hour on the board as a reward for what I had done.
Checking stats was no longer a problem since I had too much to do and a structure to do it in.
If I remembered to check them once a day then I was doing good sometimes I would forget entirely I was busy and the sales would take care of themselves. They did.
Now when they did well enough for me to become full time it became even more interesting. There I was with a full day in front of me. Oh lord I needed a plan I quickly saw that. I could not fluff out for 8 hours then work for 7 no I needed to be productive.
Those first days were not pretty. I lived on coffee I would spend too much time on youtube just like in the beginning and I wasn’t accomplishing anything like what I thought should be accomplished, though I had far more time.
I hate structure but about then the need for it became apparent. So I instituted a schedule.
Wake up 7 a.m. Put on the coffee grab the dog and off we go for a walk. Yes walks do clear my head!
By the time I am back coffee is done and I am ready for the shower and the dog is happy. This is important the dog can be very nasty when ignored. I once found my entire underwear drawer (the contents) strewn over the entire front yard displaying my very pretty lacy underthings (much chewed) over the front lawn for the enjoyment of passerbys.
So the dog is cared for my computer is warming up as I shower my sister of course will pop her head in my door 7 times before she FINALLY leaves for work. However by 8 am I can sit down and start up.
Emails must be answered then IMs. All group projects are checked ( a calendar I use in cooperation with my partners in our company).
Then begins work nothing else must take precedence. When I finish each segment I allow myself a five minute walk around break and at lunch a peek at the boards.
Morning is for building. Afternoon is for posts and evenings more posts and networking. Yes I do more than chat on ICQ.
Most days I don’t remember to check stats but sometimes I will before bed.
Lunch happens when I begin to starve and remember I am starved.
Dinner may or may not happen but I do take frequent walk breaks. Just getting up and stretching.
Usually there is some humor even a small amount in what I write however I find it lacking in the subject of scheduling. I really offer this for other new persons struggling with Webmaster ADD. Schedule yourself and hate it or don’t and hate yourself and lack of progress.
If you can get even a small percentage of the people coming to your Blog to subscribe to your sites feed guess what. One of the first things they are going to see when they turn on their computer is the new items from your site there on their home page. And if they see something interesting they will click through and come to your site.
Your Post Titles are important , ” Very Important “
I can not say this enough make the titles in your Blog posts interesting. Ask yourself does it have grab you value. Would it make you want to look. You have 1-3 seconds to get Joe Surfers attention. So spend some time on it and come up with some good titles for your Blog posts.
Think of it like this
Giant 300 Pound Man Eating Chicken
That title was used by PT Barum to get people into his side shows. What did they see when they got there. You guessed it a fat man setting there eating chicken.
You don’t have to go to that extreme but you have to sell yourself and the site or sites your pushing.
( Special Note )
Text Links under Banners
Guys and Gals if you put a banner on a page and don’t put a text link under it your totally missing out. Banners with text links under them will have a 3-1 click thru advantage over a banner with no text link. Just thought I would throw that in there.
What is your big dream and what can you do today to achieve it. Think about it! Then take action to make it come true.

Hope this thread is helpful to ya and maybe helped you find some doors that
bring ya closer to those nuggets!
Usually I have a topic for chatting to you about right on the top of my head, or right on the tip of my tongue, just clamoring to be read or heard. Usually. This week I have been so buried in work that I’ve missed some of the things that would flip that switch in my little brain and make words bubble up.
So when stuck for a topic I always revert to the oldies but goodies. Now, I have a grandad that can talk for literally hours about politics. Mention a name in politics, any name, (no I won’t do that here) and he is good for at least 4 hours of a non stop political tirade against that name.
I too have such a trigger. At home in the real world, mention the net to pull my string, just mention about any topic having to do with computers or the internet and I am good for at least 2 hours (no one has stamina like grandad).
I often force my hapless and good hearted sister to listen to this verbal diarrhea and bless her heart she doesn’t usually retaliate with her only interest, the glowy eyed church and it’s people with the Charles Manson stares.
When it comes to the board I also have a string to pull. That would be on the topic of helping.
Yeah we all know the usual line of course this is the best and most helpful board ever built that anyone will help you and it can all be found here. Sound familiar?
Well, it is true, with a single caveat.
Like with my grandad, everything offered needs to be taken with a grain of salt and some willingness to do your own research too.
If you ask a question on Netpond chances are you are going to get a ton of answers. Depending on your topic it could be 20 or more different takes on the same question. Now that is a lot of help yeah? Are they all right? Well sometimes they are.
The bottom line is you take what you can from all those answers and do a bit of work. No one I know has a step by step golden plan to succeed in this business it will be different for each person. People on this board will offer you the tools what you make of them is up to you.
However when you ask how can I improve x or y or z in what I am doing there are going to be 10 people that have hard facts on how to do that and usually all will be different ways to do it. They are going to offer this advice freely and without strings and it will be good sound advice
Yes, this board is famous for that. People are not stingy with good advice I don’t mean just the garbage you sometimes see but with good sound advice.
Your problem will be choosing the method that is going to work for you.
Research, yes, that dirty word, that is where that comes in and some trial and error.
I think what I am trying to say here is you can’t believe anyone who says they will make you a success. You have to do that yourself and besides investing tons of time and some money into it you also have to invest the time to research and try things out.
This board is here to lay out all the pieces but what it will look like in the end is up to you.
You also need to find your particular skills.
When I first joined this board not too long back I followed a thread that helped me more than I can say it was one by Thomas Byer’s on blogging. I can’t tell you all the information I took from that thread and I will be forever grateful to that man! However, I learned very quickly the rule “what works for them doesn’t always work for me”.
ACK I am a failure, was my thought. They said it would work and it did not. Hair pulling, teeth gnashing and much self recrimination later it dawns on me. Thomas was not lying about the techniques. They DID work. The level of success was wholly dependent on me and my resources and MY skills.
So I was not a failure per se and through that thread I learned how to take yet another path and play to those strengths I do have. No they were not exactly the same ones as listed in his thread because I am me, not Thomas Byers, but the whole purpose of the thread (that I conveniently missed as a newbie looking for the blueprint) was to give me the skills to make my own way. I took the things I was successful in and built on them using the techniques he gave me, and lo and behold it worked!
Old Joe Blow with the new thread or Thomas Byers with the old one over there who says do x and then y and then z and it works like a charm and you will succeed, may well possess a particular set of skills you do not. Joe Blow is not lying to you when he says it works, it does work like a charm for him but what you may not know is Joe Blow over there possesses a few extra things, maybe a flair for writing text I mean inspiring text or perhaps a genius for SEO. Everything that Joe Blow is goes into making his business a success and unless you possess the exact same skills your results will be different.
Have I convinced you yet a blueprint doesn’t exist?
Well then let me argue that it does in a way. You follow Joe Blow’s steps and you still are not a huge smashing success. Errm so what now? Well you either go over there and follow Sam Sung’s thread and try it his way or you take a step back at your project and try and figure out what skills you do have and where it can be improved.
Whatever you choose you have to remember that both Joe Blow and Sam Sung all have different skills. So will you be hunting for a 3rd when Sam Sung’s doesn’t work for you?
Nope you are going to be smart. Take everything you can and make it play to your own strengths. There is no blueprint no one will take the pain of succeeding out of the business. There are however, outlines and those are what you should be looking for.
I guess it is human nature to look for the easiest path. I assure you here and now as have many other people there is no easy path. There is only the one you make for yourself.
I want to move this idea out to everyday lives.
There are a lot of blueprints out there for living the good and happy life. You can find them all over. My sis tells me at every single opportunity that if I only join the glowy eyed people and follow them I will be happy.
Well, I am not much of a follower myself and that Charles Manson stare really makes me nervous so the path I take on my personal life is going to vary due to my ability and skills. But then I am not looking for exact blueprints for my life or my business. Are you?
This week my sister (bless her pointy head) said something that made me stop dead in my tracks and think hard.
Most of us are adults in fact all of us I think. Our world view is pretty much set and is often something we don’t even in fact consider. We are either comfortable with our social status, or working on improving it, and hopefully the adolescent heebie jeebies have settled down. I know this seems off topic but I hope this statement will prove to have a bearing.
I say most of us. I also put forth the theory that once our world view is established and we are comfortable within ourselves we spend less time questioning the world view of others. In other words if we are comfy then surely (unless they display huge insecurity issues) then so must everyone else be.
Now my sis comes in for lunch and as usual knocks on the door knowing full well I am working but unable to resist disturbing. So, we talk and she says “I have a crush on XYZ person but he would never look at someone like me, look what I do for a living (she is an account executive for a local cell phone company) and look how I live!”(we have an old duplex in a very respectable part of town with high property values but not the highest).
Ok so can someone PLEASE tell me what is wrong with that statement or what is wrong with where we live or…why a city councilman would never consider an account executive who lived in a higher middle income community?
I find in webmastering there exists that standard as well. Sploggers vs bloggers tgp vs free sites omg the list of “social” groupings people try and imagine and even sometimes take it on themselves to enforce make me cringe.
I myself confess to having envied more than one wordsmith with the ability to craft these shining towers of interwoven words and double entendres. Imagine the finest blown most intricately designed vase and that is what I see in their words.
However, I also know who I am, and am comfortable with it. Rather than masturbating with my words and displaying them in their beautifully wrought symmetry for others to enjoy with me, I am capable of only the plain word fuck.
Say it. Said it. Good. A sturdy plain brown vase that does what it is intended to do is all my best efforts can create. Though i envy the crafters of wordly majesty I am happy with what I can do. I try not to put the wordsmiths on another social plane nor will I accept them being placed there by another’s judgement. Instead I admire their work and enjoy my own.
However this strange social misperception seems to be growing in the webmastering community, and is to me even more amazing because where it is supposed to be about dollars it seems to some to have become more about “status”.
These are completely artificial social barriers stemming from no business point of view, but instead, arbitrarily erected, ,and summarily enforced by some self appointed magistrates of social standing for no discernable reason beyond that of self aggrandizement. I do not understand those trying to erect them, and understand less those bowing to other’s judgements. It just floors me.
I am comfortable in who I am. I am too busy to examine what others do in depth. I make money with my way. I know many who make money with what they do, whether be they on the top of these false social ladders or no. So how on earth can this be happening?
Every time I see these social epeens trying to establish a “top of the pile” order, my jaw drops. Everytime some silly sod says “blah blah blah I do it better” I cringe. Every time someone listens to and buys into this steaming pile of horse hockey, it makes me burn.
I don’t think I can change my sister, because something in her mind has made her feel less “socially acceptable” than our status determined by our jobs or home say she should be.
I don’t know if I could even change the webmastering community or should even try.
However, I can register my amazement that anyone would allow a stranger to dictate how they feel about their work.
