ALEDO, Ill. - The Mercer County Board is considering an ordinance that would effectively regulate adult entertainment in the area.
"When it comes to adult entertainment, we need input from everybody and every angle," Mercer County Board Chairman Tom Harris, told the Illinois Register-Mail. "We really haven't had an adult entertainment ordinance in effect, in fact we don't have one."
According to the Illinois Register-Mail, board members have been discussing a possible ordinance for the past year. Officials believe rules and regulations need to be in place for any adult-oriented business seeking to locate in the county, especially if the business intends on serving liquor.
"This will probably be done in two phases," Harris continued. "We'll probably make some adjustments in our liquor ordinance. The second phase will be looking specifically at that type of entertainment and more comprehensive than what we have in our liquor ordinance."
Harris told the Register-Mail that he hopes to have an ordinance in effect by late summer or early fall.
"I just think it's something we really need to have in place," Harris said.
